Love Ride 23

November 12. 2006 was the Love Ride 23. I have gone on this ride for the past few years and raised funds for charity. I want to thank all of you who donated to this charity event and hope you enjoy the pictures. I will have more to add soon when the event sends us their pictures.

This is a picture of some of the 20,000 bikes parked in the street in Glendale, Calif for the start of the ride. We then rode up interstate 5 to Castaic Lake for the event.

Julie took Danny to see "The Dave Brubeck Quartet" at the Cerritos Center on Aug 21st for sort of a pre birthday gift. We had a great time. Dave Brubeck was born in 1920 and he still plays like he did in the 50's. We went out to dinner before the concert and stopped at McD's for an icecream cone on the way home. We were out way past our bedtime.

Julie traveling to Montana

Julie went out to Montana on July 26, 2006 for her Uncle Norm and Aunt Dorrie's 50th anniversary. She traveled with her sister Joy who was the flower girl in the wedding 50 years ago. That is a little odd due to Joy always telling us that she is only 45 years old. How does that work????

Anyway these are some of the pictures of that event. If you know the people in the pictures then why would I put their names on them. :)

Nathan and Julie climbed Mt. Whitney which is the tallest mountain in the Continental United States. They did this in 1992 along with three others in the next picture. From left to right is, Ken Maring, Mary Ann Maring, Nathan Traxler, Steve Maring & Julie Traxler. Dan Traxler took this picture along with Amy Traxler. The two of them stayed down at the base camp during the climb. Amy was getting over pneumonia.

Julie's sister Joy married Mike Jones some time ago like 33 years. Look at Mike's hair. He must have been a hippie. Joy hasn't changed one bit.

Danny & Julie had their passport pictures just before Danny was drafted into the Army in 1969. Don't they look cute?

Chloe and the Irishman (Mom is watching)

Here is a couple of cute kids.

The Summer of 1967

Ok, this is a picture of Julie before she was a Traxler. This is the summer of 1967. She was just twenty. The picture was taken at the "Old Swimming Hole" up by Gene Camp near Parker Dam, Calif. This is one cute girl.

Joy Jones before the Jones.

Found this picture of Joy in a stack of stuff. Boy I like those glasses.

Here is an old one of the kids in the Hank & Flink Balko family. They have not changed one little bit. From left to right, Julie, Joy & Roxie. Seated is brother Kent.

Ok this is one of Danny & Julie on the evening that Danny got out of basic training Sept. 1969. Boy he must have had a great time that night. Look at that surfer girl in the picture. She was and still is a babe.

The man on the run

Ok, here is Danny in our driveway ready to ride. Note the sleeping bag, tent and inflatable mattress on the bike. He camped going to Washington DC and on the way back.

Ken Eastman & Dan Traxler

Ken rode with me in 2004 all the way. He rode to the first Arizona gas stop in 2005 on his own. In 2006 he rode with Danny to Phoenix. Here they are ready to ride from Collie Lane.

Norfolk, Virginia

Julie flew out to Virginia to meet me at the end of the Run For The Wall. We had a wonderful B&B. This is the picture from our room onto the river.

Kansas

Run For The Wall

Danny just got back from "Run For The Wall" which is an annual motorcycle ride from Ontario Calif to Washington DC. This is the second time he has gone but the first time that he has ridden his motorcyle both ways. Total miles ridden was about 6000 and he was gone for about three weeks. It was a 10 day ride to DC where Julie flew in an met him for four wonderful days at a B&B in Norfolk VA. They went to Colonial Williamsburg and Jamestown Colony and the Atlantic Ocean at Virgina Beach.
The picture is the beginning of the run at Ontario Calif. Danny is in there somewhere.

Nathan, Kristi and Chloe's new digs

Here is a picture of Nathan and his old man mowing his 2.65 acres. It took us two full days to mow the lawn. This is only the front lawn. HA :)

The kitchen is back together. We need to have the fridge put in and and the hookups done. This has taken sometime to get done but we think that you will agree that it looks great.

Tuesday, March 28, 2006

Nathan, Kristi, Chloe & Jack just bought a new home. This is the first picture that we have of it. They are moving before the end of Tax Season. Cannot wait to see what this looks like. It is out in the foothills in a town called Ione (I think).

More pictures as the kitchen gets put back together

Lois, Julie, Danny & Uncle Don.
My mother Lois Traxler and my uncle Don Matthews live in Isle Vista next door to UCSB. They really do not party with the college kids, not much, but they have a great time in Friendship Manor

February 25th is Julie's birthday. We have been married for over 38 years and she looks the same today as she did when I met her. We met at Santa Ana College in 1966. I was in a dance band called "The Don Beats" and we hired Julie as our singer. We got to know each other at our gigs in and around Orange County. She still sings like she did in those days and I love her very much. I would hope that anyone who reads this blog can have a woman like Julie to share a lifetime.
Happy Birthday Julie from your man. God Bless you always

On one of our may trips we met up with my brother David and my other brother Bob in Guatamala. My mother Lois was along for this trip. Julie and I had great time exploring this Central American country.
